We use manga as part of the way we learn opera with our kids in Harlem. Because opera is massively cool.
There is a German word - Gesamtkunstwerk - to describe opera.
It means that opera is a total, all encompassing art form - it's music and dance and visual art and literature and singing and lighting and stage directing and choreography and and and . . . the list goes on and on.
Which is why we believe that opera is transformative for kids: all doors are open!
You don't have to be one thing to fit in, you can be a million things.
And the stories are fantastic!
